Happy Campers, Week 2 #summercabs

Another fantastic week at Beau Soleil Summer Camp with highlights including, Swiss Night, Casino night and a guest appearance from some St Bernard Dogs!  Some of our happy campers will be headed home tomorrow and whilst we are sad to see them go, we are looking forward to welcoming new campers on Sunday.

News from our Junior Campers :

Adventure week for our juniors began with surprise celebrations for Ayma’s 9th birthday.  Balloons, cake, a party and pizza night with her new friends made for a special day.  Adventure in the local region included a trip to Labyrinthe Aventure and an overnight stay in Les Martinets where we learned to fly and decorate our own boomerangs.

Juniors have been busy each evening writing in their journals, creating a memory book of camp to share with families when they reach home and each day has ended with a bed-time story from our team of talented monitors.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to some of our new friends and we look forward to meeting new campers on Sunday.  Uliana summed up the way we are all feeling, “I wish I could stay for more.”

News from our Teen Campers:

What a way to wake up for our boys groups who spent the night in yourtes above Montreux.  After arriving on a foggy evening it was an amazing surprise to see the beautiful view across Lake Geneva in the morning.  The magical day continued with a jazz workshop in Montreux with musicians from Oklahoma.  Meanwhile teen girls have enjoyed a week of water-sports with sailing, stand-up paddle and banana boat rides being amongst the weeks highlights.

We all loved the Swiss night and like typical teens we are driven by our stomachs, loving the food at Beau Soleil and the most heard phrase from our group being “what time is dinner!”

News from our Senior Campers:

We all challenged our minds on Sunday with a “Ted-X” style day, sharing our big ideas.  Working on subjects close to our hearts, we explored womens rights, deforestation, liberty of expression, life in modern Africa and B-Uism.

The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the boys who managed to keep dry in their tents on their overnight adventure.  Fortunately, the rain didn’t stop the campfire and the toasted marshmallows were delicious.

“It was the perfect day!” said Genoveva after she spent the afternoon at Laser Game and soaking up the atmosphere at the Montreux Jazz Festival with her group.
