Beau Soleil Principal, Ben Turner

Beau Soleil Welcomes New Principal: Ben Turner to lead from September 2025

Beau Soleil is delighted to announce the appointment of Ben Turner as the school’s next Principal, beginning in September 2025.

Ben joins Beau Soleil with an impressive background in international education, currently serving as Principal of the British International School in Budapest. There, he has led a dynamic and diverse community of over 1,000 students through a period of growth and achievement, earning top-tier ratings in multiple external inspections. His leadership has been marked by a deep focus on student wellbeing, innovative curriculum development, and meaningful community engagement - values that align closely with the Beau Soleil ethos.

Ben brings extensive experience across Nord Anglia Education schools globally. Before taking on his current position, he served as Head of Secondary at the same school in Budapest, and prior to that, as Deputy Headteacher for Curriculum and Learning at the British International School in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He has also worked in schools in Mexico and the UK, giving him a truly global perspective on education and school leadership.

Known for his purposeful and compassionate approach, Ben is widely respected for fostering inclusive school cultures, driving academic excellence, and championing student development beyond the classroom. He has a strong passion for service learning, sustainability, and helping young people grow into confident, principled global citizens. “Ben stood out not only for his breadth of experience and proven capability, but also for his warmth, vision, and values,” said Stuart White, current Principal. “He understands the unique spirit of Beau Soleil and is excited to build on our strong foundations as we move into the next chapter of our school’s journey.”

Ben will relocate to Switzerland with his wife Marion and their two teenage sons, who are all eager to become part of the Beau Soleil community. As the new academic year approaches, the school community will have opportunities to get to know Ben and welcome him to Beau Soleil. We are confident that under his leadership, our school will continue to thrive and inspire students from around the world.

From 17g to Industry Leader: What We Learned About Coffee Trading at Walter Matter

Ami and William, Heads of Development and Social Media at 17g, reflect on their internship at Walter Matter, a coffee and cacao trading company in Geneva. During their time, they gained insight into various departments such as sustainability, where they learned about geolocating farms to comply with EU environmental regulations, and trading, where they observed how global conflicts impact coffee prices. A highlight of their experience was participating in coffee cupping and roasting sessions, evaluating coffee quality for major clients. The internship broadened their understanding of the coffee industry and inspired them to apply similar practices at 17g.

ChatGPT at Beau Soleil: Balancing Cognitive Load and Responsible Use

AI is transforming education, with ChatGPT leading the way by making learning more accessible and personalised. It reduces cognitive load, enabling students to focus on comprehension and creativity. Through workshops, we’ve shown how ChatGPT simplifies learning tasks like creating study plans and summarising readings, helping students tackle complex projects and understand ethical challenges like plagiarism. Integrating AI literacy into our curriculum prepares students for a tech-driven future, equipping them with the skills to navigate and succeed in an automated world.
