Science Fair - Students Sharing Research Beau Soleil

Bringing together the multiple disciplines of science, our recent Grade 11 science fair showed off the research talents of our students who applied theory to practice and used it to help them understand the world around them.

Using their curiosity in the world around them, each group investigated a subject of their choice, formulating a hypotheses and designing a series of experiments to support their research.  Choices were certainly ambitious with subjects ranging from; the efficiency of solar v’s battery power, the impact of noise pollution on marine mammals, how ocean currents work, the effect of oil spills on photosynthesis and how the rise in salinity affects the density of water and the impact of this on sea life.

The quality of the work was a credit to our students who gained a better understanding of the importance of science in our daily lives.  It certainly looks like we have many budding scientists amongst our students and we have opened their eyes to the wide variety of career opportunities within the world of science.
