Becoming a Boarding House Parent has been a goal of mine since I started my career in education. I take an enormous amount of pride in Emilie and find caring for our house and its remarkable young people exceptionally fulfilling.

As Housemistress, my goal is to create an environment where the girls are free to be themselves and are challenged daily. I offer support as they develop into friendly, happy, and healthy young individuals. Being part of the Learning Support Team also enables me to guide them through their academic education.

One of the things I love most about Beau Soleil is its stunning location. Sharing this environment with the girls through school challenges is one of my favourite aspects of working here. I feel privileged to be able to offer them a home away from home, while also preparing them for life after they graduate.

Originally from the outskirts of Paris, I joined Beau Soleil in 2024 after spending three years in England, where I taught both French and Spanish. With a background that includes a degree in French Literature, a Master’s in French as a Foreign Language, and a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages, I have had the opportunity to combine my passion for teaching with my love of working in summer camps across France. For me, boarding schools represent the perfect blend of these two worlds, as they allow me to work closely with young people in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Having left my home country to live and work abroad, I can deeply empathize with how our students might feel when they arrive at Beau Soleil. I am committed to creating a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere that feels like home for each of them. As Deputy Housemistress of Emily House, my focus is on ensuring that our girls grow in a safe and empowering space, where they are supported to become confident, independent individuals ready to take on the world.

I joined Beau Soleil in 2022, having previously studied and worked in the UK. After gaining my undergraduate degree from UWIC, Cardiff, I completed my PGCE in Bristol before securing a job in Exeter. Living and working aboard was always my ambition, and I still pinch myself each morning when I look out of my window and see the Alps!

One of the many reasons I was attracted to Beau Soleil was the school’s holistic approach to education. I feel privileged to play an instrumental role not only in the lives of the young people in Ferrier, but also in the development of students across the whole school.

As well as being Housemistress of Ferrier, I’m also part of the Physical Education Department. The opportunity for students to experience a wide variety of sporting and outdoor activities really drew me to Beau Soleil, and I love passing on my passion for fitness and healthy living.

Having been part of the Beau Soleil team since September 2021, I recently joined Ferrier Boarding House as Deputy Housemistress.

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter before starting my teaching journey at the charity Teach First. While working there, I successfully completed a Master’s in Educational Leadership, before joining a boarding school in the South of England.

With a passion for travel and thirst to experience different cultures, I moved to a boarding school in Malaysia. Having thrived in an international boarding setting, I decided to relocate to Switzerland. I love living in the mountains and being part of the brilliant Beau Soleil community.

The opportunities on offer to our students are incredible and the community spirit is very special. I’m passionate about supporting every individual to be their very best, ensuring they fulfil their potential and become well-rounded people.

I joined Beau Soleil in 2021, having worked in boarding houses in Malaysia, England, and here in Switzerland. My teaching career began in England, where I taught Maths, Geography, and History. I’m a firm believer in the benefits of a holistic education, and Beau Soleil’s approach was one of the many reasons I wanted to join the school. In a safe and supportive boarding environment, we play an important role in helping our students develop the life skills they need to flourish.

A keen sportsman, I enjoy playing hockey, football, and tennis, as well as making the most of the mountains, forests, and trails that surround our campus. Having enjoyed a holistic education myself, I’m happy to get involved in any and every aspect of school life! From playing the trumpet in the school band to running the challenges, I relish throwing myself into new experiences and opportunities – and encourage La Renardiere students to do the same.

Since completing my PGCE in 2014, I have been fortunate to pursue a pastoral career in teaching, working with young people as an Assistant Housemaster and Deputy Housemaster at various schools in the UK, while also teaching Chemistry and Outdoor Education.

Beyond boarding schools, my career has taken me across the globe, leading expeditions to some of the most remote and awe-inspiring environments, including the Himalayas, the Andes, and the Amazon Rainforest. Although the Alps were once unfamiliar terrain, I now relish both the opportunity to explore the mountains and enjoy the stunning views from my window.

Being part of Beau Soleil is a remarkable chance to bring together my love for exploring new places and working with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The blend of adventure, personal growth, and guiding students on their journeys to adulthood is deeply fulfilling. I consider it a true privilege to support the boys of La Renardiere in such an extraordinary community, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Swiss Alps.

Kathryn McGinley

I joined Beau Soleil in 2022, moving to Switzerland after teaching in London for six years. I graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Sport and Social Science before studying for a Physical Education PGCE at the University of Exeter. I then spent much of my twenties playing elite netball, and I am a huge advocate for the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle.

Living in Switzerland has surpassed all my expectations. I love sports and outdoor activities, and enjoy a challenge. I encourage Tam students to embrace the unique experiences offered by our beautiful setting, to push themselves, and to make the most of every opportunity.

As Deputy Housemistress, my goal is to help our students become caring, confident, and kind people who achieve their true potential. I also want to create a safe space where our young people can make and learn from their mistakes. As a Physical Education teacher, I hope to instil skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork in my students, too.

I am delighted to be joining the Beau Soleil community as Deputy Housemistress of Tam House. Originally from the UK, I earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences from Cardiff University and spent several years teaching Biology, as well as serving as Head of Lower Sixth at a boarding school in the South East of England. Prior to my teaching career, I worked in sports technology broadcasting and spent time living and working abroad in Austria and Greece.

What excites me most about becoming part of Beau Soleil is the chance to contribute to a holistic educational experience in such an inspiring environment. This approach encourages students to step outside their comfort zones, helping them develop resilience and gain deeper insights into their own identities. It not only ensures academic success but also helps students build essential life skills, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities they’ll face beyond school.

I’m eager to support our students as they embark on these experiences, always with a good sense of humor and plenty of smiles. As an avid sportswoman and GB fencer, I’ll also be bringing a healthy dose of competitive spirit to Tam House!

I joined Beau Soleil in 2019, having previously worked in boarding schools throughout my teaching career. I graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Politics, before earning a Master’s in Economics from Oxford Brookes. I also spent time in Norway, studying at Oslo University.

Having grown up on the Isle of Man, I believe that being part of a small community – like Beau Soleil – is a fantastic launchpad for young people, providing a secure environment where they can learn about themselves and others. As a keen sportsman, I also firmly believe that sport can teach you much about life, particularly how to work hard and be part of a team.

As Housemaster of Beau Soleil Boys, I’m committed to cultivating a kind, relaxed, and family-oriented environment. For me, one of the true joys of an international school is seeing young people from all over the world come together and build friendships that last a lifetime.

The opportunities available to students at Beau Soleil are like no other school in the world, and I’m incredibly proud to call this place home.

I joined Beau Soleil in 2024, having previously worked in Oxford as a Housemaster for five years. I graduated from Brunel University with a degree in Business and Management, where I also had the privilege of being a sports scholar in athletics. My interests are varied and include everything from kitesurfing and mountain biking to rugby, anime, and PC building. I’m passionate about making the most of everything Beau Soleil has to offer, and as Deputy Housemaster of BS Boys, I encourage our students to do the same.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a dynamic community, one that encourages students to step out of their comfort zones. I believe that a boarding school should help students graduate as well-rounded individuals, and I’m thrilled to support the boys as they embark on their journeys here in the stunning Swiss Alps.

I moved to Switzerland in August 2021, joined by my husband and three sons. Surrounded by stunning beauty and awe-inspiring nature, I’m incredibly thankful to be part of this unique environment high in the Swiss Alps.

Originally a French and German teacher, I was a Head of Languages for 12 years before embarking on a career in pastoral care, which included Housemistress roles at schools in the UK and Malaysia. Pastoral care is a true vocation; the opportunity to work with young people and make a difference, however big or small, really is my ‘raison d’être’.

Working at Beau Soleil is a truly wonderful experience. I meet amazing young people from all over the world, whose enthusiasm and passion are extremely rewarding and inspiring. Home to more than 20 nationalities, Deux Chalets is a vibrant community with diverse opinions, which offers all of us a global perspective and outlook.

With stunning vistas, plentiful mountain adventures, and exceptional colleagues, I can’t think of a better place to live and work than Beau Soleil. It’s a real privilege to be Deputy Housemaster of the Deux Chalets Boarding House, where it’s my job to help our young people realise their full potential.

I’m also part of the University Counselling Team, assisting students with the university application process.

It was during my undergraduate studies at the University of Glasgow – where I had the opportunity to spend time in Montreal – that I experienced the transformative impact of international education. Not only did I develop a lifelong network of friends, but I also gained a global perspective on the world. This has had an immensely positive impact on my life and career. I hope our students get to experience something similar at Beau Soleil, and I’m excited to be part of that journey.
