Junior students took part in their first expedition learning how to make a camp and spending their first night under canvas. What better way to begin their adventures? Another day, another adventure with a hike to beautiful Lac Tannay where they spent the night in an Auberge. A magical experience and introduction to the Swiss mountains.
Once up in Lac Tanay, the path leads naturally to the highest point and the view from the summit of the Grammont made the effort worthwhile! High above Lac Leman the panorama was inspiring and the challenge just enough for our junior students.
Grade 9 improved their camping skills in Champéry, making a bivouac and enjoying a campfire. The boys reached the top of the Tour de Mayen whilst the girls in the year climbed the neighbouring peak of the Tour de Famelon.
Grade 10 were out in the region of the Lac Retaud from where they enjoyed the magnificent views across the Glacier des Diablerets. On the opposite side of the Valley du Rhone, grade 11 spent the night in the Susanfe Mountain Hut before they reached the summit of the Haute Cime – a real buzz for them to reach the top of one of the most prominent peaks we admire each day from the school terrace.
Finally our oldest students spent the night in La Tourche Mountain Hut where they split into two groups with the first headed to the summit of the Dents de Morcles and others exploring the region around the hut.
A semester full of adventure and discovery. Well done to each of our students who tested their courage and perseverance!
